SOUTH FILLING STATIONS ADHERE TO UNIFORM FUEL PRICES

Filling Stations in Southern Province have adhered to President Rupiah Banda’s recently announced uniform fuel pricing mechanism.
SGC Filling Station in Mazabuka district has even further reduced the price of fuel.
A check conducted by ZANIS over the weekend revealed that SGC was selling petrol at K7, 600 while diesel at K6 950. Kerosene was below K5, 000.
The uniform price across the country is K7, 639 for petrol and K6, 999 for diesel while kerosene is K5000 respectively.
Mike Mwale, a Fuel Attendant at SGC told ZANIS in an interview that they decided to reduce in order to woo more customers but not above what Government had announced.
“You can sell your commodity as per Government directive but you cannot sell above that. There is good business and all we want is to attract more customers. And as for us, we have decided to reduce our fuel prices much further because we respect Government orders,” he said.
A motorist talked to by ZANIS Macha Hamachila commended Government and President Banda for the initiative.
Mr. Hamachila said motorists were being exploited before the uniform pricing mechanism was introduced with fuel dealers cashing in on the trend by selling petrol diesel exorbitantly.
A check conducted by ZANIS in  Choma, Kalomo, Monze and Livingstone towns revealed that Total, Kobil, BP, Vuma Filling Stations were selling the commodity at a uniform price.
President Banda during the official opening of the Fifth session of the Tenth National Assembly announced that fuel prices across the country will be the same.
