A combined team of police and
medical experts has been dispatched to Reuben Nsunge in Icinga Ward of Chinsali
central constituency where two people died and three others hospitalized after
eating suspected poisoned beans.
Chinsali District Commissioner
Evelyn Kangwa and Muchinga Provincial Medical Officer Dr Charles Chungu have
confirmed the development to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS)
in Chinsali today.
DC Kangwa said the dispatch of
the combined team is to ensure that no stone remains unturned in the
investigations.
Ms Kangwa also confirmed the
death of a chicken after it ate from the suspected poisoned food that was left
for one of the family members who however, did not eat the food but instead
threw it away because he was told that the food was suspected to have been
poisoned.
And Provincial medical officer Dr
Chungu has disclosed that the three patients who were admitted to Chinsali
district hospital after eating suspected poisoned food have been discharged.
Dr Chungu said the mother and her
two children were discharged this morning adding that they are all fine and
ready to go home.
On Tuesday two people from one
family died on arrival at Chinsali district hospital while three others were
hospitalised after eating suspected poisoned food.
Dr Chungu also disclosed that
postmortem for the two children aged between 2 and 5 will take place today.
The deceased have been identified
as Gift Bwalya and Justina Bwalya.
