ZISSP FORMS BEHAVIOUR CHANGE COMMUNICATION COORDINATION COMMITTEE IN CHONGWE



The Zambia Integrated Systems Strengthening Programmes (ZISSP) has formed a Behaviour Change Communication Coordination Committee in Chongwe district to be coordinating activities targeted at addressing social and health problems facing the district.
The committee was formed yesterday in conjunction with the Ministry of Health during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Graka Lodge and has drawn membership from government and non-governmental organizations in the district involved in addressing social and health problems in the area.
Speaking after the formation of the committee, ZISSP Community Health Coordinator for Lusaka Province Bridget Michelo thanked the various stakeholders in the district for responding positively to the call to form committee in the district.
Mrs. Michelo said Chongwe district, just like other districts in the country, is facing numerous social and health problems which require interventions such as the formation of behaviour change coordinating committees in order to enhance effective and efficient implementation of social and health Programmes in the district.
And Chairperson of the committee Rev Roadwell Siame of the United of Zambia (UCZ) Chongwe Congregation appealed for commitment and hard work among committee members in order for the committee to achieve the desired results of bettering the lives of the ordinary people in the district.
The Chongwe Behaviour Change Coordination Committee is the second committee to be formed in Lusaka Province by ZISSP after the first committee the organization formed in Luangwa district two weeks ago.
The member organizations are the Department of Education, Zambia News and Information Services, the Department of Community Development, World Vision Zambia, and Chongwe District Council.
Others are Chongwe District HIV/AIDS Task Force, Chongwe Youth Group, Chongwe District Business Association, and the United Church of Zambia.
